Purpose: Getting practical knowledge of experimental and theoretical
methods of modern molecular biophysics employed in the Depertment of
Biophysics and in some other labortories of Polissh Academy of Science
collaborating with the Department. There are two 70 hours classes per
semester predicted for each participant in the course. Specific
program is provided by supervising assistant for each particular
case.
Plan of the lecture:
- Investigation of enzyme mechanism by fluorescence spectroscopy
methods.
- Measurements of protein phosphorescence in lowtemperature
matrices, analysis of electronic transitions and lifetimes of
excited states.
- Kinetics of protein-ligand association by stopped-flow methods.
- Determination of conformation of nucleic acids subunits by
NMR methods.
- Determination if primary structure of peptides by NMR methods.
- Determination of tautomeric forma of subunits of nucleic acids
by IR spectroscopy methods.
- Investigation of electrostatic properties of proteins and
nucleic acids by molecular electrostatic methods based on
Poisson-Boltzmann model of solute-solvent system.
- Investigation of properties of water by Monyte Carlo and
Molecular Dynamics methods.
- Investigation of conformational dynamics of proteins and nucleic
acids by Molecular Dynamics methods.
- Kinetics of protein-ligand association by Brownian dynamics
methods.
